SKARV

Flexibility keeps the project on track

Immediate availability of vessels helps FPSO installation to be completed in the fastest possible time.

Maersk Supply Service was contracted for the tow and hook-up of BP’s Skarv FPSO unit in the North Sea in 2011. The project involved the use of three high-powered, sophisticated L-class vessels. The vessels each had two ROVs placed on a mezzanine deck, allowing full access to the winches and equipment underneath the mezzanine deck.

Other circumstances had led to the project being delayed substantially, so it was important that the project was not delayed further by the lack of availability of vessels when they were needed.

Despite the extended length of the project, Maersk Supply Service ensured that vessels were on standby to help the installation to be completed in the fastest possible time. This was made possible by the size of our fleet and the flexibility of our approach.
