Second Maersk Supply Service vessel to support The Ocean Cleanup

Maersk Tender will be accompanied by a sister vessel in the Pacific Ocean this summer, strengthening The Ocean Cleanup’s pursuit to rid the oceans of plastic. The extra vessel, Maersk Trader, was made possible by A.P. Møller-Maersk increasing its donation to the non-profit organisation, confirming its commitment to Ocean Health.

At the same time, Maersk Supply Service is launching a Plastic Policy to increase its focus on how it can reduce plastic waste from its own operations and supply chain.

Maersk Supply Service A/S, a part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, and Ørsted have joined forces to test a proto-type buoy that will act as both a safe mooring point and a charging station for vessels, potentially displacing a significant amount of marine fuel with green electricity. The solution, developed by Maersk Supply Service, will be tested on one of Ørsted’s offshore wind farms in 2021.

Moller – Maersk Claus V. Hemmingsen will leave A.P. Moller – Maersk end June having concluded on the separation of the oil and oil related companies.

The system will use high quality data to optimise operations and save fuel in real time, lowering the company’s carbon footprint and fuel costs for customers.
