Maersk Tender will be accompanied by a sister vessel in the Pacific Ocean this summer, strengthening The Ocean Cleanup’s pursuit to rid the oceans of plastic. The extra vessel, Maersk Trader, was made possible by A.P. Møller-Maersk increasing its donation to the non-profit organisation, confirming its commitment to Ocean Health.

A. P. Møller-Maersk has extended its partnership with The Ocean Cleanup for three years, and Maersk Supply Service will continue to provide marine sup-port to rid the ocean for plastic. At the same time, Maersk Supply Service is launching a Plastic Policy to increase its focus on how it can reduce plastic waste from its own operations and supply chain.
Maersk Supply Service A/S, a part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, and Ørsted have joined forces to test a proto-type buoy that will act as both a safe mooring point and a charging station for vessels, potentially displacing a significant amount of marine fuel with green electricity. The solution, developed by Maersk Supply Service, will be tested on one of Ørsted’s offshore wind farms in 2021.

11 April 2019 | On 4 April 2019, Maersk Supply Service signed a contract with Eniram, a Wärtsilä company, to install an Energy Advisory System on its vessels. The system will use high quality data to optimise operations and save fuel in real time, lowering the company’s carbon footprint and fuel costs for customers.
16 August 2018 | Maersk Supply Service will in the coming months provide marine support to The Ocean Cleanup, the Dutch non-profit that is developing advanced technologies to rid the oceans from plastic, and install their first cleanup system in the North Pacific. This moment will mark the start of the World’s first large-scale initiative for collection of floating ocean-plastic debris.
