This recognition demonstrates our commitment to the youth of Scotland

Maersk Supply Service is proud to announce that it has been named a Young Person’s Guarantee employer by Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) in Scotland. MSS joins employers across Scotland in creating the best opportunities we can for young people.

The Young Person’s Guarantee is a joint commitment to provide opportunities for all 16–24-year-olds in Scotland through jobs, apprenticeships, further an higher education, training programmes and volunteering.

Our employees in Aberdeen have been working with DYW over the last year, which culminated in MSS being recognized as an employer that is committed to supporting Scottish youth.

MSS has been working with DYW to build a partnership with local schools which has included several visits by MSS colleagues to host career talks, and visits from students to our Aberdeen office. MSS has further plans to increase support to the students including CV writing, mock job interviews, and additional visits to our offices.

“Gaining Young Person’s Guarantee employer status is well-deserved recognition of Maersk Supply Service’s engagement with young people in the region. Local pupils have already benefited from class presentations and a site visit, which have given them valuable insights into the shipping and energy industries. We are looking forward to using the Young Person’s Guarantee to plan and frame further activities with young people – and we are very grateful to the Maersk Supply Service team for their ongoing support,” said Margo Milne, Director, DYW North East.

“While I was in school, outside of Aberdeen, I somehow was never made aware that this incredible industry existed just a short distance away,” said Shari Norris HR Manager at MSS. “I managed to find my way here through good fortune and a sequence of lucky events, but this shouldn’t be the norm for our young people in Scotland, and I have a strong personal desire to try and take luck out of the equation, and to spread the word far and wide about all the amazing opportunities in our industry – both within MSS but also in the wider industry.”
