Strong local presence in Brazil enables successful, on-time launch of FPSO.

Maersk FPSO’s contracted Maersk Supply Service for the final hook-up of a Statoil FPSO at the Peregrino project off the coast of Brazil. The client was looking for a reliable, trustworthy partner with a highly capable vessel and expert crew. A Maersk Supply Service A-type vessel was mobilised in the North Sea, equipped with a crane and ROVs, and sailed to Brazil.

The ability to deal with import formalities was crucial, particularly in light of the difficulties faced by the client responsible for moorings installation. A key reason behind the choice of Maersk Supply Service was its local presence in Brazil and its intimate knowledge of Brazilian authorities and organisations. Consequently, the vessel was brought into the country with no delay and in accordance with all necessary import formalities.

This played a big part in the ability to keep to the schedule – a key success factor for the project.  Another success factor was the ability to provide a highly experienced, specialist ROV crew subcontracted from Oceaneering who could achieve the quality demanded. Both of these factors contributed significantly to the successful launch of the FPSO’s final installation operations.
