Preparing an eight-point anchor system for a drilling rig.

Maersk Supply Service successfully completed its first contract for an anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel in Mexico in May 2020. As part of the preparation for a drilling rig to begin work on the field, Maersk Transporter installed anchors and chain for an eight-point anchor system.

Maersk Transporter made two voyages from Mexico to Port Fourchon in the United States to load out the required equipment. Four anchors and 1600+ meters of chain were loaded during each voyage.

Back on location offshore Mexico, a total of eight anchors were installed, and more than 3200 meters of chain was laid on the seabed. The chains were then connected with a pennant wire to a surface buoy to await the arrival of a drilling rig.
