For Maria Elena Andrade, working at sea has always felt like part of her destiny. Today, she continues building her journey while inspiring other women in the maritime industry.

What motivated you to work at sea?

I feel it was a calling since I was very young, a path I would follow no matter what. It’s incredible to combine such important pillars in the same navigation: freedom, effort, faith, and love in every turn we make.

How has your journey with Maersk been?

It has been fascinating. Since my cadetship, I’ve felt supported both in calm seas and during storms. With great gratitude, I value this part of my journey and dedicate myself to ensuring we achieve even more success together.

What message would you leave for other women who want to follow this profession?

We are living in a time of opportunities that previous generations did not have. So please feel my warm hug and remember: we can go anywhere and explore new paths.
