“I want to continue to use my knowledge where it can add the most value to the development of the company. I am always thinking of the seafarer’s safety while striving to deliver the best service.”

How long have you worked at Maersk Supply Service and what was your starting position?

I’ve been at Maersk Supply Service since 2013, where I started as a Deck Cadet.

What skills have you developed?

Besides the technical skills developed, which were many during the years, I have broadened my perception and knowledge about how vast and diverse the world is by working with different nationalities, different backgrounds, as a team to deliver a good service and profit from a warming environment onboard.

What projects have you worked on and what was the highlight?

I have worked on various types of operations, from anchor handling, to supply, to tanker lifting,  to an onshore position. On anchor handling jobs, I have participated in both conventional anchor handling, where the highlight is to work safe and fast to deliver an efficient service to the client, and on torpedo jobs, where a huge power was needed and pioneering some practices that were not tried before, which was very exciting. On the other hand, helping to manage an offshore scale squeeze project from the shore side opened up a door where I could add important points with an onboard view and also learn the challenges of the onshore team when dealing with so many variables. Regardless of the operation or project, in all, teamwork is paramount.

What is the most interesting part of your job?

The stakes that are involved. Knowing that I am responsible for a large vessel that has huge power and that whether she will perform greatly or to cause a lot of harm depends on my abilities as a professional, a team player and a leader.

What has been your greatest achievement in Maersk Supply Service?

Being promoted to Chief Officer at the age of 27 and despite the young age being trusted by my leader and respected by my deck team.

What are your goals for the future at Maersk Supply Service?

I want to continue to use my knowledge where it can add the most value to the development of the company. I am always thinking of the seafarer’s safety while striving to deliver the best service.
