We always take the environment into consideration when managing our business and we take pride in living up to our environmental responsibilities – often exceeding the regulatory requirements.

• We aim to continuously reduce our emissions, and we are in constant dialogue with our customers about reaching this goal.
• We collaborate with pioneers in the greentech industry to develop onshore and offshore waste treatment plants, including a new generation of incineration plants. In 2010, the first plant was installed on our new vessel Mærsk Laser. The system is based on gasification technology and uses only a small amount of diesel. The ratio between CO2 emissions and treated waste has been shown to be seven times better compared to traditional incineration. 
• We benchmark our vessels to increase cost awareness onboard and drive knowledge sharing of best practice across the fleet to optimise operations. In this way, we work systematically to ensure that our vessels operate with as few resources as possible. This is a significant advantage in relation to fuel consumption and emissions.
